    FEBRUARY: Argenta Artwalk - 3rd Friday of each Month
    On the 3rd Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m.,The Argenta ArtWalk will feature more than 20 local artists who will display and sell their work "in unexpected places" under tents and inside shops on Main Street from Broadway to 8th Street and the Presbyterian Church on 4th and Maple in North Little Rock.     The North Shore Maritime Center on the Arkansas River in North Little Rock includes a Maritime Museum, the submarine USS Razorback; will be the future home of the WWII tugboat USS Hoga, a 1939 towboat M/V Patriot; the Salty Parrot Restaurant on the River; a casual evening Party Barge and the Sternwheel Excursion Boat, the Arkansas Queen.

    FEBRUARY: Energy Conservation Information and Assistance Kiosks
    With the increasing cost of electricity, the City of North Little Rock is actively engaged in conserving energy. It is the City’s aim to disseminate information to the citizens of North Little Rock about the many ways to conserve energy at home. Additionally, the city through the Community Development Agency has set aside some funds to assist those citizens who qualify with weatherizing their homes.

    The Energy Conservation Information and Assistance Kiosks will provide ideas and information on energy conservation, home weatherization, as well as information for assistance on energy bills for those who qualify.

    These “information stations” include information from the Electric Department, the State Energy Office, and other reliable energy conservation sources. In terms of utility and weatherization assistance, we have compiled information from the city’s Utilities Accounting Department on the various services they provide, as well as the Central Arkansas Development Council, River City Ministries, and the North Little Rock Community Development Agency.

    The kiosks will be located at six (6) locations around the city:

    FEBRUARY: North Little Rock Christmas Parade 2009
    The North Little Rock Christmas parade is scheduled for Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday, December 13. The theme for the parade this year is “Kaleidoscope Christmas.”

    All clubs, organizations, schools, churches and businesses are encouraged to participate in the parade and incorporate a “non-traditional” Christmas color in their entry. An entry form may be obtained by calling the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau at 501-758-1424 or by stopping by the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau in the Visitors Center located in Burns Park at exit 150 off I-40. All entries must have entertainment appeal by being in costume or decorated. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Pershing and Main and will continue down Main Street to Washington Avenue. There will be only one Santa Claus in the parade. The entry deadline is November 30.

    The North Little Rock Christmas Parade is sponsored by the North Little Rock Sertoma Club and the City of North Little Rock. For more information or a parade entry form contact the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau at 758-1424.

    FEBRUARY: North Little Rock Concert Band

    ---North Little Rock Concert Band---

    The band presents three indoor and three outdoor concerts each season, as well as performances at other special civic events. The North Little Rock Community Concert Band is a member of the Association of Concert Bands and has performed at the ACB National Convention. The NLRCCB is a sustaining member of the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association.

    All of the concerts feature a variety of traditional wind band music including marches, overtures, patriotic selections, show tunes, jazz standards and other types of program and novelty numbers.

    These performances last about an hour and are FREE and open to the public. The audience is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor concerts (Lakewood Village - under the canopy).

    FEBRUARY: Old Mill photographs or negatives
    Friends of the Old Mill is seeking photographs or negatives with unrestricted use to be copied. Photos will be used to help capture the historical details of the Old Mill and the surrounding park and may be used in park displays. All photos and negatives will be returned.
