NLR Pipe Band Gets New Uniforms

NLR Pipe Band Gets New Uniforms

The North Little Rock Firefighters Pipes & Drums Corps officially took delivery of its first uniform purchase. The new uniform issue consisted of custom fitted kilts with matching kilt flashes and a dress sporran. Startup funding for the uniform project was provided by NLR Mayor Joe Smith, an enthusiastic supporter of the band.

Due to the funding required for quality band uniforms, the NLR FF P&D Corps’ approach will be undertaken in steps designed to spread these costs out over time. This initial step included the items needed for the band to appear in public in a light-formal uniform event. Future uniform purchases will include military doublets and accessories to provide a complete formal appearance. Tentative planning includes a series of fundraisers to accomplish this goal.

The NLR FF P&D Corps is a group of firefighters working for the City of North Little Rock. Their goal will be to provide on request traditional bagpipe band services for police, fire, and EMS events where appropriate throughout central Arkansas. The band was organized in 2014 and has set the goal of holding its first performance at the Christmas Lighting Ceremony in 2015.
