North Little Rock's Fit 2 Live Community Garden Committee recently awarded its Fall 2014 round of garden funding to five projects - four existing and one new. The awarded projects are:
- North Little Rock Community Farm - $4,000
To support the training of the Farm's Board of Directors and meet the needs of its growing urban farm project.
- St. Joseph's Community Garden - $4,000
To double the size of the garden to allow individuals from their waiting list and more neighbors to obtain garden plots.
- The Field - $3,000
To build a refrigeration unit to store harvested produce from several gardens and farms, which will allow for more efficient food distribution to the Central Arkansas' homeless population and other individuals.
- 4 The Youth Community Garden - $2,000
For the construction of a new, youth-focused community garden on East Broadway St.
- E. 2nd Street Community Garden - $1,000
To fund improved beds, irrigation, and tools.
