MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Valid class D drivers license and a good driving record
Six months related work experience in outdoor manual labor
Satisfactory work history and background.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
Provide heavy manual labor assistance to Street Department crews engaged in the construction, repair, and maintenance of City streets and other City properties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Uses jack hammer in the construction and repair of streets and other related properties.
Uses pick and shovel to loosen and remove dirt from roadbeds and right-of-ways.
Loads and unloads cement and masonry bags.
Uses shovel and rake to load and unload various raw materials.
Picks up and loads logs and other debris onto truck.
Shovels hot asphalt from truck to, and on, newly poured streets and roads.
Drives small trucks such as crew-cab pickup and one or two ton trucks to bring crewmembers and materials to job sites.
Operates weedeaters, chainsaws, and riding mowers in maintenance of right-of ways and other City properties.
Assists in storm basin cleaning and City drainage system maintenance.
Moves office furniture, filing cabinets, and other City appliances as necessary.
Cleans street department floors and offices as necessary.
Provides other manual labor assistance as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:
Must possess a valid Certified Welder certification from the American Welding Society by a recognized metal laboratory or an accredited vocational-technical school.
Two years directly related experience in welding is required.
A Class A driver's license (or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire) is required.
A good driving record is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
Using welding processes, fabricates and repairs vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Repairs: welds and maintains City vehicles, equipment, and facilities; occasionally welds other mechanical parts or systems.
Fabricates: builds parts for vehicles such as floorboards, truck beds, etc.; designs and builds small metal buildings and sheds; interprets blueprints; prepares plans and supply lists for fabrication.
Vehicle maintenance: repairs or replaces vehicle parts, including but not limited to electrical parts such as lights or other wiring; maintains area of shop where repairs are made.
Performs body work: straightens, sands, and paints dents in vehicles.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions and a good driving record. *
One (1) year of directly related experience operating light equipment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves on any of three crews and operates a variety of light equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of City streets and other related City properties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operates equipment on any one of three crews: Operates rubber tire front end loader, asphalt spreader, oil distributor, mower, bushhog with tractor, street sweeper, poison spray rig, boom truck, backhoe, flush truck, forklift, and vacall; rubber tire roller, bulldozer, track front end loader; salt/sand spreader and snow plow; a gradall excavator or motor grader; assists the Heavy Equipment Operator with the operation of the asphalt paver by working controls on the rear of the paver;
Drives various vehicles: a ½ ton or Ύ ton pickup, 1 ton flat bed dump truck, 6 yd, 10 yd, or 14 yd tandem axle dump truck; tractor with dump trailer or lowboy trailer, 2 ton flat bed dump truck, a tractor-trailer rig or tractor with a gooseneck trailer.
Loads and unloads equipment.
Uses hand tools or equipment: uses a shovel and compactor; chainsaw, jackhammer, sledgehammer, limbsaw, axe, pick, rake, and Kaiserblade; weedeater, lopping shears, pitchfork, and street broom.
