GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY: Operates a variety of trucks and assists crew in the collection of garbage/trash/yard waste safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Drives truck: completes an assigned garbage or yard waste collection route daily; maintains safety standards for driving and garbage/yard waste collection; and/or assists with manual collection of garbage, trash or yard waste as necessary. • Performs routine daily maintenance on truck or equipment: completes morning and/or afternoon preventive maintenance routine; checks lubricants, fuel, hydraulic fluids, water, etc. adding as needed; cleans vehicle or equipment daily or as specified by management. • Supervises a crew of helpers: provides daily task instructions and direction; provides information and assists Route Supervisor with annual performance appraisals; completes applicable incident reports and/or recommends disciplinary action to the supervisor as necessary. • Assists department employees with other tasks or duties required when primary duties are completed.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY: Provides manual labor and assistance to Parks maintenance crews

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Assists with grounds maintenance: cleans streets and sidewalks; picks up refuse and brush in all park grounds and facilities; cleans ponds, catch basins, manholes, and storm and sanitary sewer lines in the parks system; mows, trims, and landscapes using mowing units, tractors, weed trimmers, and other related tools. • Provides manual labor for facilities repair and maintenance: provides manual labor for plumbing and electrical repairs, roof repairs, pavilion repair, etc.; paints guard rails, lines in parking areas, curbs, and sign posts; assists with repair of water lines. • Provides labor and assistance with construction projects: loads and unloads construction materials, stone, gravel, sand, asphalt, dirt, timber, leaves, sweepings, salt, and other materials from or onto a truck; hand grades and dresses street slopes, driveways, sidewalks, and drainage ditches; assists with installation of water mains and hydrants in parks system; digs and backfills trenches; assists in laying sewer pipe to grade; breaks pavement; pours and shovels concrete; operates manual and automatic compactor; builds forms and assists in pouring concrete for curbs, sidewalks, etc. • Assists with pool maintenance. • Sets up equipment and materials for special events and cleans area upon completion of event.

Heavy Equipment Operator -Street Dept - 8051

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Valid class A CDL and a good driving record • Two (2) years of directly related experience operating heavy equipment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves on one of three crews and operates a variety of heavy equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of City streets and other related City properties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Operates equipment including: bulldozer, backhoe, gradall, asphalt paver, drag paver, roller (steel or rubber tire), grader, rubber tire or tracked front end loader, forklift, sand/salt spreader and snow plow, flush truck and vacall, tracked linkbelt excavator and bush hog. • Drive various vehicles including: dump truck with tilt trailer and tractor with dump trailer or lowboy trailer and other large and small trucks, drives a boom truck or bucket truck occasionally. • Use hand tools and equipment • Load and unload equipment. • Perform preventive maintenance. • Serves as Crewleader in the absence of the assigned Crewleader.

Food Service Worker II - Parks and Recreation Dept. - 8053

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Delivers meals in pickup truck with trailer and dolly. • Prepares boxes meals with all meal components as set forth by the USDA Food Program for breakfast and lunch. • Completes daily logs for accountability of meal distribution, required meals for next day, travel to food distribution sites and preparation sites. • Performs clean-up duties such as wiping down tables, cleaning coolers, freezers and refrigerator, cleaning vehicles, food preparation area, sweeping, mopping, emptying of garbage and ensuring safety and sanitary conditions. • Ensures each child receives a meal with the appropriate food components.

Pool Manager - Parks and Recreation Dept. - 8057

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY: Assist Community Center Director in the operation of Community Center

Service Bay Helper - Vehicle Maintenance - 8055

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the service and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Vehicle Maintenance: removes, repairs or rotates, and replaces tires on various kinds of City vehicles and equipment on a regular basis; lubricates and changes oil in City vehicles and equipment daily.

• Assists Mechanics: assists Mechanics with service calls to City vehicles in and around the City; accompanies Mechanic to job site to provide unskilled assistance; provides general maintenance assistance to Mechanics as needed; installs new brakes on City vehicles occasionally.

• Maintains Supply Room: keeps inventory of supplies at hand; maintains supplies in an orderly manner; keeps records of supplies used; cleans and maintains work and shop areas; retrieves parts from the supply room for Mechanics.
